I am the youngest of three brothers and grew up all over the great state of Texas. We moved from Amarillo to Laredo and most points in between.
Towards the later teen years we moved away from Texas to a little city outside of Shreveport, LA. It was there that I finished high school and attended college.
It was also during this time I fell hard for a blonde haired girl named Karen.
18 years later we have 3 kids and a Labrador retriever named Pearl. We currently make our home in Texarkana, AR. All 6 of us have hopes and dreams of moving to our little 8.5 acre farm in the near future.
Away From The Office
When I’m not working, you can catch me trying to lead a simple life. I absolutely love spending time outside, especially with my family. I’ve grown a garden or two, and look for the slightest excuse to use my tractor.
I don’t play golf, but it looks awesome. Since 2010, I’ve been the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 707. The Scouting program teaches these boys a lot, but I’ve learned more than the boys.
On most Sundays my family attends church at Northside Church right here in Texarkana. We’re involved with the kid’s ministry and wherever else they need us.
My Professional Life
I’ve been helping people with money related stuff for a while. In addition to my ownership role at Carroll Investment Management, I’m also the Chief Compliance Officer and half owner of Cogent Advisory Group, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor. Additionally, I have an active blog where I discuss Social Security and retirement related stuff at Social Security Intelligence.
Prior to opening Carroll Investment Management in 2010, I was a financial advisor at Edward Jones for nearly 8 years. I learned a lot while I was there. I’m very thankful for where I am today.

My hope is that I can help reduce my client’s stress. Specifically, in the area of their finances. As a result of my involvement, I hope that my clients can turn their focus to the things that really matter – family, friends & health.
You can contact me via email or connect with me via Facebook or Twitter. If you would like to see more about what I do as a blogger, visit www.socialsecurityintelligence.com or visit the blog page of this site.
